Dr. Jayesh R. Bellare
- He is one of the leading scientists in Nanotechnology
alliance in India and he has contributed as an Advisor to
YASHNANOTECH in the year 2005-06. Dr. Jayesh R. Bellare is
Professor of Chemical Engineering at I.I.T.-Bombay. He was
the first Head of IIT's new School of Biosciences and Bioengineering.
He has also been visiting Professor at U.D.C.T., Bombay University.
He did his schooling at the Bombay Scottish School and his
B.Tech., Chemical Engineering, from I.I.T. Bombay (with First
rank).
He earned his Ph.D. (Chemical Engineering and Materials Science)
from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, U.S.A. and
was post-doctoral fellow at M.I.T., Cambridge, U.S.A. His
research includes nanotechnology, liposomes, biomedical devices,
microscopy & imaging technology. He has several international
publications, conference presentations, and patents, including
international patents.
He has won several national and international awards like
the Presidential Award of the Electron Microscopy Society
of America and ICI award of IIChE. Dr. Bellare strongly believes
in close interaction between academia and industry and is
a very active industry consultant.

polymers, membranes, soft solids & complex liquids; Cryo-electron

· Liposome and vesicle microreactors
Liposome and vesicle microreactors, their microstructure,
deformability under shear, and reactions in them to produce
ultrafine particles.
· Electron Microscopy of Complex Fluids
Electron Microscopy of Complex Fluids, including development
of new microscopy techniques. Morphology of soft solids and
complex liquids.
· Membrane Technology
Membrane Technology, including composite, supported, asymmetric,
hollow-fiber, and ceramic membranes; their preparation, industrial
manufacture and characterization.
· Artificial organs
Blood oxygenerators, dialysers; new designs and industrial
production.
· Ceramic materials
Their precursors, powders and membranes; microstructure development;
optical properties; bioglasses.
· Micro-chemical engineering
Specialized instrumentation, process miniaturization and intensification.
Excellent facility set up for cryo-scanning electron microscopy
and sample preparation of soft solids and complex liquids;
and for Thermal conductivity of fluids: applied to vegetable
oils, suspensions and soft solids.

Retainer consultant to several companies. Over 15 projects
